In the middle of the Foreign Minister's Visit controversy, the German ambassador praises Indian protocol.
German envoy says Indian protocol was superb in response to the debate on manners.
Due to reported etiquette difficulties, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock's recent visit to India generated a lot of buzz on social media.
Philipp Ackermann, the German ambassador to India, has underlined
that any blunders were solely the responsibility of the German government and
had nothing to do with Indian protocol. He continued to express his admiration
for the Indian protocol team's superb performance at the G20 Foreign Ministers
Meeting and other occasions.
Baerbock's jet reportedly landed in Delhi a bit early, and
she was instructed to wait on the aircraft for a time before being taken to the
conference center. Despite agreeing to wait, Baerbock exited the plane without
obtaining a line, which was totally a German problem. The envoy claimed
Baerbock thought the incident was funny and had no problem with it.
Ackermann continued by praising the Indian protocol staff,
saying he had never in his life witnessed such superb protocol work. He went on
to say that the activities had been expertly planned and set up, and the crew
had done a tremendous job in terms of hospitality.
The G20 summit was a challenging endeavor, but the Indian
side had done a terrific job, and everyone was pleased with the outcome, the
ambassador added. Baerbock even had a few excellent side-by-side bilateral
sessions, and she was overjoyed when she departed.
The statement from the German envoy makes it clear that
any protocol problems encountered during Baerbock's visit were German in nature
and that the Indian protocol team had performed well throughout the G20 Foreign
Ministers' Meeting and other engagements. His remarks also highlight the
wonderful encounter Baerbock had when she visited India.
