Hizbul Mujahideen and Tehrik- e Taliban Pakistan will remain as global
terrorist organizations and there's no reason to change their designations, US
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said following a review.
In a recent development, US Secretary of State Antony
Blinken has stated that there will be no changes in the terrorist organization
designation of Pakistan- grounded Hizbul Mujahideen and Tehrik- e Taliban
Pakistan( TTP) following a review. Blinken's determination was notified in the
civil register on Thursday after a review of the designations as foreign
terrorist organizations of TTP, Hizbul Mujahideen, and the Army of Islam( and
Other Aliases).
The US had designated TTP as a terrorist organization on 1
September 2010, relating its leaders Hakimullah Mehsud and Wali ur-Rehman as
especially designated global terrorists. TTP is a marquee organization of
colorful Islamist-fortified terrorist groups operating along the Afghan –
Pakistani border. Formed in 2007, the group shares a common testament with the
Afghan Taliban and supported them in the 2001 – 2021 war. Meanwhile, Hizbul
Mujahideen is grounded out of Pakistan and has been designated as a global
terrorist organization by the US, Canada, India, and the European Union. The
group is Kashmir- centric and has been responsible for several violent attacks
in the region.
Blinken's determination was grounded on a review of the
executive records and in discussion with the Attorney General and the Secretary
of the Treasury. He concluded that the circumstances that were the base for the
designations of these organizations as foreign terrorist organizations haven't
changed in such a manner as to leave cancellation of the designations. Blinken stated
that the public security of the United States doesn't warrant a cancellation of
the designations, and thus, he determined that the designations of the
forenamed organizations as Foreign Terrorist Organisations will remain
unchanged.
The US has been laboriously engaged in combating terrorism
encyclopedically and has designated several organizations and individualities
as foreign terrorist organizations over time. These designations are
critical in precluding the inflow of finances and coffers to these
organizations and dismembering their conditioning. The US has been working
nearly with its abettors and mates in this trouble, and the recent
determination on TTP and Hizbul Mujahideen underscores the continuing trouble
posed by these groups.
The decision by the US to maintain the terrorist
organization designation of TTP and Hizbul Mujahideen is likely to be eaten by
India, which has been a victim of terrorism forming from Pakistan- grounded
groups. The designation of these organizations as foreign terrorist
organizations is an essential tool in fighting the global trouble of terrorism,
and it's essential that countries continue to work together to identify and
neutralize these pitfalls. The determination by Blinken is a memorial that the
US remains married to combating terrorism encyclopedically and will continue to
use all available tools to achieve this ideal.
