According to a thorough study, the Karachi attackers each wore suicide vests containing 8 kg of explosives.

According to a bomb disposal squad investigation report on the attack on the Karachi Police Office (KPO), each of the six to ten terrorists who attacked the building packed roughly 8 kg of explosives in their suicide vests. According to the complaint, police officers located and removed a white car from the site along with some concealed ammunition. However there is no evidence that either terrorists or someone else took the automobile.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the incident, which occurred only a few weeks after a bombing in Peshawar that left over 100 people dead, primarily police officers. Late on Friday, officials said that Islamabad's security will be increased.

Armed militants assaulted the Karachi Police Office (KPO) on Friday at night while wearing suicide vests and wielding automatic weapons and grenades. A fire fight ensued for more than three hours. After killing the three militants, the authorities retook the building, according to a government spokeswoman.

Behind the Saddar police station on Sharea Faisal lies the well guarded KPO. Several administrative and residential structures, as well as hundreds of officers and their families, are housed within the enclosure. The incident took place on Friday between 7 and 7.30 p.m., and it is believed that the terrorists used a silver car to get to the Saddar Police Lines, which are located behind the KPO.

A terrorist carrying a suicide vest detonated on the fourth level of the building during the first operation, prompting the police and Rangers commandos to begin scouring the higher floors of the structure. The terrorists eventually made it to the building's top, where they camped out until a fierce confrontation between the Rangers and police commandos resulted in their deaths.

Irfan Baloch, the deputy inspector general of police for Karachi South, reported that up to 30 officers were present during the incident. He stated that in addition to the gram, dates, water bottles, and other goods, the terrorists also brought Kalashnikovs and hand grenades.

According to Samaa TV reports, the attack damaged the building's structure and broke the windows of surrounding structures. Authorities are still working to bring security and calm to the area, but the incident represents just another example of the persistent bloodshed and terrorism in the area.
