George Soros, a billionaire investor, has come under fire from India's external affairs minister, S. Jaishankar, for recent comments he made about the Adani-Hindenburg dispute. Soros had predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may become more vulnerable as a result of Gautam Adani's financial difficulties, prompting concerns from international investors and the parliament. Jaishankar responded by labeling Soros "old, wealthy, dangerous, and opinionated" and charging that he was trying to control world narratives.

After accusations of stock manipulation and accounting fraud made by US-based short seller Hindenburg, the Adani Group's shares dropped. According to Soros, the upheaval surrounding Adani's corporate empire may present India with prospects for a democratic renaissance.

Jaishankar refuted this assertion, saying that Soros and similar figures only back electoral results that suit their own inclinations. Soros is allegedly attacking not only Prime Minister Modi but the whole Indian political system, according to the BJP.

Soros voiced his statements at the 2023 Munich Security Conference, but Indian politicians and corporate leaders have strongly refuted him. The significant differences that exist in the Adani debate and the significance of foreign investors to India's economy are highlighted by Jaishankar's criticism of Soros.
