The 2023 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards highlights and
winners
Children and teenagers came to celebrate their preferred TV shows, movies, music, and more at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2023, which was an amazing night of fun-filled entertainment and surprising surprises.
Nate Burleson and Charli D'Amelio served as the event's hosts, and
it was broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday,
March 4, 2023. Adam Sandler and Optimus Prime from the Transformers received
special recognition during the award show, which also featured performances and
exclusive preview snippets from forthcoming films.
A stunning dance medley by Burleson, D'Amelio, and content
developers Michael Le and Markell Washington served as the evening's opening
act. They replicated some of the hottest dance movements of the year, and the
show culminated with a Bebe Rexha performance of her number-one hit song,
"I'm Fine (Blue)." The dancers' outstanding maneuvers enthralled the
audience, and Rexha's performance was the ideal way to kick off the evening.
The awarding of Adam Sandler with the King of Comedy
Silver Blimp was one of the evening's highlights. He received the honor for
his lengthy career in humor over the past 30 years as an actor, writer,
producer, comedian, and musician. Before being annihilated in Nickelodeon's enduring
Slime, Sandler collected the trophy on a huge, lavish throne on the KCA stage.
The crowd was ecstatic to see Sandler coated in slime, and the fans loved the
scene.
Another notable incident had Melissa McCarthy being slimed
by Awkwafina and Halle Bailey, her The Little Mermaid co-stars, in a dunk tank
with more than 1,500 gallons of slime. One of the funniest scenes of the
evening occurred as McCarthy was dipped into the tank, to the roars of the
crowd.
The actors of the forthcoming sci-fi action movie
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts gave the heroic commander of the Autobots,
Optimus Prime, the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was given by Pete
Davidson, Dominique Fishback, and Anthony Ramos in front of a cheering audience
as Optimus Prime was recognized for his outstanding contribution to the
franchise.
Lil Baby's rendition of "California Breeze" off
his number-one third studio album, It's Only Me, and a drum-off between Lil Uzi
Vert and 8-year-old drum prodigy Justin Wilson II were two more fascinating
performances that took place during the evening. Another event that won over
the crowd was the tug-of-war match featuring WWE superstars Becky Lynch, Bianca
Belair, and The New Day.
Also shown during the occasion were exclusive teaser
snippets from highly anticipated feature films. Chris Pine and Michelle
Rodriguez, two of the cast members, showed a scene from the fantasy
action-adventure movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. A preview
of the CG-animated superhero movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
was shown by Seth Rogen and the voice cast. The crowd liked the ultimate
slimings that were used to wrap up both speeches.
The live-action musical movie sequel Monster High 2, based
on the enduring Mattel series about the offspring of legendary monsters and
beasts, was also previewed during the event. The crowd reacted well to the
teaser, and the movie's debut is eagerly awaited by enthusiasts.
Nate Burleson and Charli D'Amelio performed a spectacular
finale sliming on stage with the help of their family to round off the evening.
Landon Barker, Bella Poarch, Dove Cameron, Miranda Cosgrove, Dixie D'Amelio,
Dwayne Johnson, Keegan-Michael Key, and other celebrities attended the event.
