Cristiano Ronaldo loses his composure in a heated argument with a fan who yelled, "Messi is so much better!"
Ronaldo grew irate during Al-3-1 Nassr's win against Al-Batin on Friday after being confronted by a fan in the tunnel.
Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself in an awkward situation once more after a video showing him losing his cool went viral on social media.
After Al-3-1 Nassr's victory over Al-Batin on Friday, a fan
addressed Ronaldo and compared him to his main rival Lionel Messi in the
tunnel. As the little child cried, "Messi is so better," the Portuguese
superstar was on his way to the changing room. Outraged, Ronaldo yelled back,
"And that was the easy game."
Given his individual performance throughout the game, in
which he missed multiple opportunities by heading the ball largely above the
crossbar, Ronaldo's displeasure is understandable. The 34th minute saw him come
the closest to scoring, but defender Abdullah Al-stunning Yousif's goalline
clearance stopped him. Al-Batin broke the scoreless tie in the 17th minute, and
the score stayed 0-1 until the 90th. This made the game difficult for Ronaldo.
Al-Nassr, however, mounted a late rally, with goals from Mohammed Al-Fatil,
Mohammed Maran, and Abdulrahman Ghareeb to make the score 3-1.
Ronaldo has scored eight goals and completed two assists
in six Saudi Pro League games since his contentious transfer from Manchester
United to Al-Nassr. Al-Nassr, his team, presently sits atop the 16-team points
standings with 46 points after 19 games. They are closely followed by
Al-Ittihad, who are two points behind them after playing the same amount of
games, with 14 wins, 4 draws, and 1 loss.
Social internet is buzzing about the incident, with
Ronaldo and Messi's supporters using Twitter to voice their feelings. While some
have condemned Ronaldo for losing his cool, others have stood up for him and
claimed that it's normal to become upset when confronted. Several have also
said that it is pointless to compare the two players because they each have
their own distinct approaches and accomplishments.
