CM Stalin refocused on the Apex Court's advice in
colorful cases to take a lenient view in granting a redundant attempt under
Regulation 4 of the Indian Administrative Service Regulations, 1955.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday, February 8, prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider the civil service applicants' demand for a redundant attempt with corresponding age relaxation to all those who exhausted their last attempt due to COVID- 19pandemic.Taking up the issue with Modi, Stalin said applicants of colorful examinations conducted by the union government including Civil Service examinations, who had exhausted their last attempts due to the epidemic, have been requesting since the once two times to extend the age limit to appear for the examination as one- time measure.
The Parliament Standing Committee has also recommended to
consider sympathetically the demand of the Civil Service applicants and to
grant a redundant attempt with corresponding age relaxation to all
applicants," the Chief Minister said in a letter addressed to the Prime
Minister, a dupe of which was made available to the media then. The Chief

parties have supported the cause of the applicants. Further, in this
connection, I wish to point out that in Tamil Nadu, orders have been issued
raising the age limit by two times for the applicants for State Service
examinations taking into account the goods of the epidemic," he said citing
the Government Order( GO) dated September 13, 2021.
The union government has also lately granted 3 times
relaxation beyond the separate prescribed upper age limit for all orders of
campaigners as a one-time measure for the reclamation of Constable( General
Duty) in Central Armed Police Forces Examinations, 2022, conducted by the Staff
Selection Commission.
" This is a one-time relaxation and it'll not beget
any financial burden to the bankroll but at the same time open a huge occasion
to thousands of youth who aspire to join the civil service. thus, I appeal to
you to consider this favorably, and do the needful in granting a redundant
attempt by invoking Regulation 4 of the Indian Administrative Service
Regulations, 1955, in view of the COVID-19 epidemic," the Chief Minister
said in the letter.
