Chris Rock's "Selective Outrage" stand-up special on Netflix creates history.

The first comic to ever do a live, worldwide streaming event for Netflix, Chris Rock has created history once more. On February 14th, 2023, the standup special "Selective Outrage" was broadcasted globally and received a lot of positive feedback.

Comedian Leslie Jones, who introduced Rock, said that he was in full "Samurai mode" as he opened the event from Baltimore. Rock covered a wide range of subjects in his signature manner, including addiction, abortion, racism in America, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and the Kardashian clan. He joked that he was attempting to date ladies 10 to 15 years younger than him as he spoke and discussed his love life.

But what really got people's attention was Rock's criticism of "wokeness" and "selective anger". Rock declared, "I don't have an issue with the wokeness. "It's not at all problematic for me. For social justice, I'm all in. I wholeheartedly support the rights of those who are marginalized. The selective outrage is the thing that bothers me."

Rock continued by criticizing cancel culture and how it frequently singles out one person for something that several others have done without repercussions. He joked: "Same crime, one of them simply has better tunes," referring to R. Kelly and Michael Jackson.

Rock appeared in all white throughout the scene and sported a medallion necklace with the Prince emblem on it while posing in front of a shattered mirror-like backdrop. Those who dwell in glass homes shouldn't fling stones, the imagery said.

Rock's appearance will be his sixth stand-up special and second for Netflix following Bo Burnham's "Tamborine" from last year. Ronny Chieng, who was broadcasting live from Los Angeles for the pre-show of "Selective Outrage," made light of the fact that they were "trying to kill off conventional TV and put it out of its misery."

Before the performance, U2's Bono delivered an introductory song about Rock, and Arsenio Hall joked that Will Smith would be so enraged during Rock's performance that he would "slap the TV off the wall" after Chieng's joke.

Rock's special has received extremely good feedback, with many people complimenting his ability to address contentious subjects in a way that is both humorous and thought-provoking. Rock has undoubtedly created history with his own style of humor and social criticism once more, and fans can't wait to see what he does next.
