For fantasy football players, the Bears' offence gets a boost with the arrival of DJ Moore in Chicago
DJ Moore gives Justin Fields a real #1 target in fantasy football.
After being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, DJ Moore has played a significant role in the Carolina Panthers offense. Moore spent his first three seasons with the Panthers, but thanks to trade up to the No. 1 overall pick, he will now play for the Chicago Bears.
The
quarterback of the Bears, Justin Fields, will now have a dependable top-receiving target thanks to this deal.
While some analysts have criticized the trade, contending
that asking to include Moore in the transaction was unreasonable considering
the other draught pick compensation, it is apparent that Moore's move to
Chicago improves Fields' chances of winning the QB1 position. This is
especially relevant in light of the constant stream of subpar quarterbacks
Moore dealt with while in Carolina.
Although Fields' passing game is still growing, he has
already displayed excellence while playing for Ohio State, and Moore's
inclusion in the Bears' system should assist raise his potential statistical
ceiling. Although the pair may be more unpredictable than the typical QB-WR
combination, Fields will undoubtedly face more competition with Moore in the
game.
With the Bears, Moore transforms into a midrange WR2, which
is a significant upgrade from his prior position in Carolina. His relocation to
Chicago does, however, come at a price for other Bears receivers. Chase
Claypool and Darnell Mooney in particular are most likely to transition into
depth alternatives that are more matchup-focused, while Cole Kmet, a tight end,
should gain but is more susceptible to the rare quiet game.
It is unclear how the Bears' offense will perform under
Fields, but many observers are still upbeat about Claypool's potential against
inferior defenses, especially given the larger role Moore's entry is
anticipated to offer him.
